If you haven't already recycled or curbed your holiday tree, This Old House has some crafty ideas on getting some use out of its broken-down parts. If your winter involves snow, for instance, its parts make great garden boosters. There are a few non-garden uses suggested among the 10 uses, arranged in a lightly aggravating gallery format. Assuming you don't think of a tree trunk slice as an ideal coaster, you'll be mostly interested in how any tree can be broken down into pieces that arrange and protect an outdoor garden: Insulate Perennials: Cut off boughs and lay them over perennial beds to protect them from snow and reduce frost heaving. Edge Your Borders: Cut the trunk into 2-inch discs and set them into the soil to edge flower beds or walkways. While roaming around Jasper, I stopped into a gallery which had something similar on a 40x60 canvas wrap; I was hooked, and knew I had to figure out how to get one of my own :) It's not rocket science or anything, but I will come up with a blog post about the technique in the next day or so... I was lucky to get some nice side light cutting through the trees, which really makes a huge difference for these types of images. Canon 70-200 Polarizer

Another day, another opportunity wasted to play games... Maybe tomorrow medic jacobw ? Maybe? Don't leave me hanging dude! Oh hey... also... I can't even believe that the gamerscore challenge formerly-known-as ' Auto Challenge - #43532 ' is over. Those 5 days flew by in a whirlwind of achievements and trash talk. medic jacobw didn't manage to get the win... but I guess number 4 is better than number LAST!!... wait... maybe we are last? How many people are in this thing? Can I count? But, there is always next time I guess... A special thanks to the other 4 people in the competion. Good times.
